Position Title: Director of Zion Lutheran Preschool



Zion Lutheran Preschool is a ministry of Zion Lutheran Church. Open to children of all spiritual backgrounds, this new start-up center shall provide an appropriate Christian learning, school readiness experience for children between 18 months to 5 years of age. 

 

Working collaboratively with the Preschool Board of Directors, preschool parents, church staff, committees, and the congregation, the Director shall lead the Preschool staff in preschool operations, foster preschool staff development, and carry out the preschool’s mission.  The Director reports to the Preschool Board of Directors.

 

The ideal candidate is passionate about Early Childhood Education and looking for a unique children’s center development opportunity, has classroom management experience, is organized, a self-starter, a solutions-oriented leader with excellent communication skills, and possesses a proven record of maintaining effective relationships. 

 

The person chosen for this position must be professionally prepared as a preschool director and able to meet the requirements of the California licensing agency.  Knowledge of the requirements for providing the type of care and supervision needed by children at this facility is required, including leading compliance with preschool regulations and communications with licensing agencies.

 

The Preschool Director credential requirements include one of the following:

a)       Three of the 15 units required in 1) above shall be in administration or staff relations.

b)      Twelve of the 15 units required in 1) above shall include courses that cover the general areas of child growth and development, or human growth and development; child, family and community, or child and family; and program/curriculum.

 

OR

 

a)       Three semester or equivalent quarter units shall be in administration or staff relations.

 

OR

 

a)       Three semester or equivalent quarter units shall be in administration or staff relations.

 

OR

 

 

Prior to hire, candidate must 1) pass a pre-employment physical examination, including a tuberculosis clearance, 2) pass a fingerprint/background check consistent with statement requirements for working in centers for early childhood education, 3) possess and maintain current certification in pediatric CPR, First Aid, and 4) possess fifteen hours of Health and Safety Training.
